What is NOFF
Noises Off is an open access magazine which runs throughout the festival, publishing reviews, comment-pieces, cartoons, letters, features, interviews, photographs and a whole host of other bits and bobs, on a daily basis.
Each issue is written and compiled through the night by a team largely composed of volunteers, with a deadline for submissions hovering somewhere around one thirty in the morning, and a print time (photocopy time, if we’re more honest) as near to nine thirty as we can make it. This means that the bulk of the work takes place in eight hours, during which we process, and make presentable, something in the region of 20,000 words a night. It sounds impossible, but it’s been managed every day of every festival for well over thirty years.
