Enter a show for NSDF11

If you are 16 or over and have been a student within the last year and are involved with a theatrical production that is taking place between 21st February 2010 and Friday 4th March 2011 and think that it deserves to be part of the UK's leading drama festival then enter your show for NSDF11 by filling in this form and emailing it to the NSDF Administrator, Chris Wootton, chrisw@nsdf.org.uk

NSDF11 will present the twelve most exceptional student shows from across the UK, chosen by the NSDF Director and Selection Team. When we have received your form and your entry fee of £98.00 we will contact you and agree a date when a member of the NSDF Selection Team, often accompanied by the NSDF Director, can come and see your production. The Selection Team are all exceptional theatre practitioners and will spend up to an hour with the company after the show giving feedback and answering any questions that you might have about your show and also opportunities in the creative industries. The feedback session is your time and the most important part of the NSDF process. You will receive written feedback on request after Selection Day on Saturday 5th March 2011. We normally see over 100 shows each year and will only choose 12 for NSDF11 .

Once you have entered your show you and your company will all automatically receive the NSDF eflyer with information and offers and you will be very welcome to contact any of the NSDF team to discuss any queries that you have about careers in the creative industries.

You can also join the National Student Drama Festival Facebook site and become a member on our website and discuss with other NSDFers anything of interest.

I'm so glad we entered our show - I'm glad we were selected obviously - but even just entering provided us with two professional opinions on our work, which was something we'd never had access to before. (Jack Conway, Guidelines for Measures to Cope, NSDF10)

Selection Process

We are often asked what makes a good show. We look for pieces with exceptional theatre craft with a clear sense of ownership and commitment from the people presenting it, whatever the genre. We do not base our selection choices on our own tastes or emotions but clearly we have to be effected by the piece. A piece can be of any length from 10 minutes. We see work from every theatrical genre from devised work, physical theatre, new writing, published texts, musicals, site specific and site responsive work. The work can have a professional or non-student input providing the majority of the work is student driven.
