Technical Team

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2020 TECHNICAL TEAM ARE NOW CLOSED.

WHAT IS THE TECHNICAL TEAM?

Our Technical Director, Graeme Nixon, backed up by a professional team of theatre technicians will work with you to build the Festival from the ground up.

You’ll get to work with state-of-the-art equipment provided by our sponsors in professional venues such as Curve Theatre.

During the week you will follow a bespoke course of learning through doing. Alongside building the venues you will learn about every aspect of technical theatre, including Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, Video and Logistics.

It is a hands-on experience, not lecturing, and you get the opportunity to put your new skills into practice while you are building a venue, or setting up a show, or taking part in an event at the festival. You will take so much away from the experience because the whole week is so practical.

Hamish Ellis and Emma Wallis, NSDF Technical Advisors. Click here to read their full blog explaining what it's like to be on the NSDF Technical Team.

You will be empowered but mentored, you will have responsibility but be supported. It will be a full-on learning experience like no other.

WHAT DO OTHERS SAY ABOUT IT?

...ideal for beginners or more experienced techies alike, we all learnt a huge amount and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Meerav Shah, part of the NSDF Technical in 2018 and 2019

The sense of community amongst all the teams and of having a wider conversation was fantastic. I truly felt I was a part of the festival’s being, which I don’t always feel as a technician.
