Improvising Shakespeare

Location: Studio79

How can we find a way to treat Shakespeare as you would improvised dialogue? what are the ways to unlock the text?

We will explore some principles through a selection of some of Shakespeare's greatest scenes and also work on examples brought to the workshop. Actors should bring along a shakespearean speech which is off book to explore in the latter stages of the work.

As an actor he has worked extensively in classical theatre including three years with Cheek by Jowl and five seasons at the RSC.He spent a year working on Shakespeare with Peter Brook in Paris and in New York with The Wooster Group. His film credits include work with Richard Attenborough, Rupert Goold, Tim Burton, Peter Greenaway and Woody Allen.

Unfortunately Studio79 is not fully accessible (There is no step free access and is up two flights of stairs). This is far from ideal and does not meet our hopes. If you have access requirements and would like to attend this workshop please email [email protected] and we will work our hardest to resolve the situation.
