Male ally-ship in the Arts post #MeToo

Location: Leicester Adult Education College

Room: 21

What about the men? Men's allyship in the arts after #MeToo.

Feel like you want to be a better ally to the women and non-binary people in your arts practice but don’t know how? Keen to take action and learn more about feminism but afraid of mansplaining and getting it wrong?

In this workshop we will be looking at the role of men in intersectional feminism and deconstructing terms like toxic masculinity and emotional labour. It's aimed at men who've already done some reflecting on masculinity and their complicity in patriarchy but who would like more information and guidance around being a man and a feminist ally in the arts.

This workshop is open to anyone but specifically designed for those who identify as men.

Holly Race Roughan is Associate Artistic Director at Headlong. She co-founded and ran the feminist network WOLF WHISTLED for seven years, and has collaborated with a wide variety of activists, artists and feminist groups to organise events around intersectional feminism. This workshop was conceived by members of WOLF WHISTLED and THE FEMINIST MEN PROJECT (www.great-men.org).
