An introduction to Passing Through - movement for everyone
Devised by Leila McMillan, Passing Through is an improvisation technique based on the idea that movement needs no leader in creation. In this introductory session, we will “work to see the room full of pathways - infinite pathways passing through the walls, the floor and the bodies…to create a wild, spontaneous composition” Passing Through is a great tool for creating movement with people who think they aren’t movers. No dance experience required!
James Blakey is the Associate Artistic Director of Slung Low. He is a theatre director with ten years’ experience of creating original works of performance in collaboration with community groups. His work has been presented in theatres including The Yard, The Royal Exchange and Hull Truck, and in community centres, shopping malls and on city streets. He is a former Associate Artist with Company Three and Staff Director at the National Theatre.
Unfortunately Studio79 is not fully accessible (There is no step free access and is up two flights of stairs). This is far from ideal and does not meet our hopes. If you have access requirements and would like to attend this workshop please email [email protected] and we will work our hardest to resolve the situation.
