Immersive Theatre II: The Playing Audience
Immersive theatre blurs the lines between performer and audience, and between fiction and reality. But as audiences crave meaningful experiences more than ever before: how do we still tell a story?
Looking at escape rooms, murder mysteries, and Nordic LARP alongside contemporary theatremakers, this practical workshop explores different levels of immersivity and how we can empower an audience to live their own adventure.
Joe Bunce is artistic director of Paperfinch Theatre, an immersive children's theatre company. Credits with Paperfinch include 'Hansel & Gretel: Fairytale Detectives', 'The Snow Queen' and 'The Nutcracker' (with Theatr Clwyd), 'Curiouser' (with Grassington Festival/SlungLow), and 'Beatrix Potter's Garden' (with Theatre Delicatessen).
Unfortunately Studio79 is not fully accessible (There is no step free access and is up two flights of stairs). This is far from ideal and does not meet our hopes. If you have access requirements and would like to attend this workshop please email [email protected] and we will work our hardest to resolve the situation.
