NSDF 20: How to Get a Play Produced

This workshop explores opportunities for new plays by early-stage writers to reach the professional stage. In an increasingly competitive industry, knowing how to present a script is often crucial to its future. We will consider pathways to programming including: staged/rehearsed readings; competitions; unsolicited submissions; and commissions.

The focus will be on practical, hands-on advice informed by a deep working knowledge of the new writing sector, with a chance for questions and discussion.

Chris Foxon (Visiting Artist) co-runs Papatango, a multi-award-winning new writing company which each year provides free opportunities for 4000+ writers and tours 2 world premieres. Papatango's discoveries have won BAFTAs, OffWestEnd, Critics' Circle and Alfred Fagon awards and premiered in 20 countries. Chris is co-author of Being A Playwright: A Career Guide For Writers, dubbed 'a phenomenon for playwriting good' by Steve Wate
