NSDF 20: Writing a Musical - What I learned from Adapting 'Boy in the Dress'

Last year I adapted David Walliam's popular children's book The Boy In The Dress as a musical for the Royal Shakespeare Company, with new songs from Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers.  I learned some fascinating things along the way about writing a new musical which I'd like to share with you.  This is a workshop for twenty active participants, who ideally have read David's book and have some experience (however small) in writing new musicals. Observors also welcome.

Mark Ravenhill's plays include 'Shopping and F***ing', 'Mother Clap's Mollyhouse', 'Citizenship', 'Pool No Water', 'Shoot Get Treasure Repeat' and 'The Cane'. He is currently under commission to the Royal Court Theatre and The Forge/BBC TV drama.
