Creating a Character: Actions and Objectives
Creating a character from scratch can be daunting. Where to begin? Using text from Shakespeare and contemporary playwrights, we will look at some simple and effective techniques for unlocking characters, and some popular methods for bringing them to life. Scripts provided. This is a practical session - please wear clothes/shoes you can move in freely.
Jen Tang is an award-winning freelance stage director and theatre maker, working across new writing, opera and devised work. Trained at UEA and Theatre Royal Plymouth where she was resident assistant director for 2013-14, Jennifer has worked with the Young Vic, the Royal Opera House, The Gate, West Yorkshire Playhouse and The RSC.
