Chris is a writer and performer from Manchester.
Work as a playwright includes There Has Possibly Been an Incident and The Mysteries for the Royal Exchange in Manchester, Victory Condition and The Milk of Human Kindness for the Royal Court, Beowulf for the Unicorn and Chorus for The Gate. Upcoming work in 2022 includes A Family Business, about nuclear arms negotiations, for Staatstheater Mainz/China Plate, and Always Maybe The Last Time, about the psychology of the Climate Crisis, for the Royal Court, and a show in development for BBC TV.
Chris has an ongoing collaborative relationship with director Rachel Chavkin of New York's TEAM. The first piece they made as writer/performer and director, Confirmation, tours and is produced internationally, as does their second show, Status.
Other work includes The Shape of the Pain, a one-women show with director Rachel Bagshaw/China Plate and The Oh Fuck Moment and I Wish I Was Lonely with post Hannah Jane Walker.
He has also written four plays for Portuguese experimental company Mala Voadora and has worked with many artists including Forest Fringe, Belarus Free Theatre, Slung Low and RashDash.
He was a founding member of Unlimited Theatre and is a member of Live Art/Performance company Third Angel. He plays guitar in Lucy Ellinson's sludge/metal/verbatim politics project #TORYCORE.
