Marec is the Technical Director for the Pleasance Theatre Trust, where he is responsible for overseeing the entire technical output of the organisation. This includes the delivery of their Edinburgh Festival Fringe operation, the running of their busy theatre in North London as well as delivering production management and consultancy for external projects and events on behalf of Pleasance Production Services.
Over the years, Marec has been fortunate to work with such companies and organisations as Vault Festival, Histrionic Productions, Punchdrunk, Glynis Henderson Productions, Complicite, Royal Court Theatre and the National Theatre of Scotland.
But we’re not just getting Marec. Even though that’s amazing.
With him we’re beginning a partnership with the Pleasance, the legendary Edinburgh and London Venues.
Marec’s appointment is part of this.
Our new collaboration will allow us to offer young technicians- so desperately needed for the future of our industry- placements and pathways which begin at NSDF but then move to encompass both the Edinburgh and Vault Festivals.
Our aim, as always, is to offer greater opportunities to young people entering the Creative Industries and to provide both training and practical steps towards sustainable careers.
Applications to be part of our Technical Team for NSDF 22 will open at the end of November.
The NSDF Technical Team offers a bespoke course of learning through doing.
Alongside building the venues you will learn about every aspect of technical theatre, including Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, Video and Logistics.

Applications for our Management Team will also open at the end of November for those interested in gaining hands on experience in venue management, front of house, box office, administration, events management and producing. Read more here.
It is a hands-on experience, not lecturing, and you get the opportunity to put your new skills into practice while you are building a venue, or setting up a show, or taking part in an event at the Festival.
